I‘m
a first generation Londoner, based in London, with a participatory art practice and a background in community organising. I collaborate with children and young people using practices that best present themselves – from film making to food growing – to share and tell stories about ourselves, our culture, and the critical space between environment, community and health. I am currently Artist in Residence in Thamesmead, South East London, working around the opening of a new library for Thamesmead, funded by Arts Council England (2019-2022).
Dunya means earth, quince, everything of material existence. In the face of displacement and alienation I aspire to embody my name: to be present, a child of the earth, fecund, woman, artist, listener, daughter of witches. I work to dis-attach myself from the structures that hinder me and honour the ones that keep us together in trust.
